I watched the sunrise this morning
and for once,
nobody knew about it.
No filters.
No settings.
No hashtags.
No race to be first.
Just brilliant light
rising above the back
of the Uwharrie Mountains,
spilling over the horizon,
like it’s been doing
long before we arrived.
We don’t have to post everything.
We don’t have to prove everything.
We don’t have to present life
for clicks and hearts.
Maybe some things lose their value
when we stop cherishing them
and start documenting them.
Maybe peace isn’t found in being seen.
Maybe happiness was never hiding inside a screen.
Maybe the most beautiful moments
are the ones we experience with
no digital footprint at all.
The sunrise didn’t need validation today,
and neither do we.
