the pines call out
with groans of ages
swaying above the
forest floor.
shadows glide
through the growth
dancing with rays
of light casting hues
of green and yellow
the soft remnants
of seasonal scatter
cover the layer beneath
the trees, providing
a welcoming place,
somewhere to escape.
supine to the rest of the
world, the canopy of
giants intertwine,
casting light in
a constant state of change.
quiet lives beneath
the trees pass by,
noticing my presence
on the air. cautious,
alert, but welcoming
still, because this
is where peace lives.
