water ripples, spray
breaking off the tiny crest.
leaves flit across the sky
aimlessly, rising and falling with no intention
but ultimately in one direction.
trees bend and sway
at the mercy of an unseen force.
many say it’s the wind
but i’m hesitant to agree.
i can't see your wind
so why believe
when it could easily be
some other force
or event that began
billions of years ago.
a primordial event
that echoes across time, leading to vibrations
across this day, this time,
replicating a breath
gently stirring our surroundings.
